EXPERTISE
GSI remediates contaminated soil and groundwater with the most cost-effective
technology; provides engineering and design expertise for the corrective
action process; and minimizes the scope and cost of corrective action
by integrating RBCA and RNA into remediation designs.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
DNAPL Recovery:
Designed and installed an innovative DNAPL recoverability test system
at a Texas Gulf Coast Superfund Site. Based on test results, installed
25-well groundwater/DNAPL recovery system.
Groundwater
Recovery: Designed, installed, and operated a 6-well groundwater
recovery/treatment system for containment of a 2000 ft chlorinated
solvent plume at a manufacturing facility, Houston, Texas.
Bioslurping:
Installed a 16-well multi-phase extraction "bioslurping" system,
LNAPL separator, air stripper, and vapor oxidation system at a pipeline
terminal in Louisiana.
Excavation:
Excavated 30,000 cubic yards of contaminated soils at former steel
fabrication plant to satisfy residential closure criteria and facilitate
residential and retail development of a 40-acre tract in Houston,
Texas.
Soil Vapor
Extraction: Designed a large combined soil vapor extraction/
groundwater extraction system for a low yield water-bearing unit
at a former surface impoundment in Greenville, Texas.
Caps/Barrier:
Developed conceptual design for large barrier/cap system at Brio
Superfund Site, Houston, Texas.
Excavation:
Wrote
closure plan, oversaw contractor selection, and supervised excavation
of 80,000 cubic yards of waste and contaminated soil at former unpermitted
waste disposal site in southeast Texas.
Hydraulic Control:
Designed and installed a 9-well groundwater hydraulic control and
LNAPL recovery system to prevent discharge of contaminant groundwater
to adjacent bayou, chemical manufacturing facility, Texas.
