EXPERTISE
GSI remediates
contaminated soil and groundwater with cost-effective biological
technologies; and minimizes air emissions and excavation costs by
treating soil and groundwater in situ.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
Solvent Biodegradation: Developed patented in-situ biodegradation
technology based on direct hydrogen addition for the remediation
of chlorinated solvent plumes. Conducted treatability and pilot-scale
tests at four Air Force Bases. Performed hydrogen biosparge treatability
test at local dry cleaner sites.
Biodegradation Systems: Designed and implemented in-situ
biodegradation systems at two remediation/research sites. Applied
BIOPLUME II in-situ biodegradation model to develop conceptual designs
for both projects.
Modeling: Analyzed design basis information and utilized
the BIOPLUME modeling system to design a full scale in-situ bioremediation
system for remediation of dissolved BTEX plume at former natural
gas facility.
Low Permeability Soils: Installed extensive wellpoint system
for soil flushing. Directed long-term field monitoring program to
evaluate performance of in-situ soil rinsing/biotreatment for remediation
of affected sand unit.
