EXPERTISE
GSI applies runoff and floodplain models to solve hydrologic problems;
performs non-point source pollution studies; and provides services
related to in-stream and estuarine quality.
REPRESENTATIVE
EXPERIENCE
Non-Point Source
Studies: Developed innovative calculation methodology and determined
non-point source loadings (stormwater pollutant loads) to the Galveston
Bay estuary using LANDSAT satellite imagery for delineating land
use.
Estuary Studies:
Served as Principal Investigator for Galveston Bay Characterization
Report for U.S. EPA's and State of Texas Galveston Bay National
Estuary Program; analyzed wetlands, physical processes, water/sediment
quality, and living resources of the Bay.
Surface Water
Planning: Served as Principal Investigator for developing The
Galveston Bay Plan, a comprehensive planning document for managing
aquatic and living resources in Galveston Bay.
Floodplain
Models: Conducted detailed floodplain management study of lower
San Jacinto River watershed using HEC-1 and HEC-2 models.
Non-Point Source
Monitoring: Managed all phases of $1.2 million EPA water quality/hydrologic
monitoring system for EPA's Nationwide Urban Runoff Program in Kansas
City. Designed and directed installation of twenty automatic sampling
stations and monitored 23 storm events.
Oil Field Studies:
Evaluated impact of oil field brine groundwater discharge on surface
water resources. Analyzed flow data, dilution factors, and developed
target concentrations for protecting livestock.
