EXPERTISE
GSI develops innovative
site remediation technologies; teams with academic / industry /
military partners for technology development; and works with government
and industry transferring new technology to potential end users.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
Technology: Developed patented new remediation technology
for chlorinated solvent sites involving direct hydrogen delivery
with Rice University partner. The technology is now being funded
by the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Dept. of Defense Strategic Environmental
Research and Development Program (SERDP), and U.S. EPA's Hazardous
Substance Research Center.
Long-Term Monitoring: Developed Air Force's MAROS Long Term
Monitoring Decision Support System software with University of Houston
to help site owners reduce long term monitoring costs.
Barriers: Developed an in-situ, permeable, mulch filled biowall
to treat chlorinated solvent-impacted groundwater. The development
of this technology is currently being funded by the Air Force Center
for Environmental Excellence.
Radionuclides: Developed and patented innovative Ensorb technology
for managing dissolved radionuclides in subsurface.
Natural Attenuation: Developed key natural attenuation models
BIOSCREEN
and BIOCHLOR
and now developing an innovative source lifetime estimation tool
for the US Air Force.
Tech Transfer: Wrote numerous tech transfer documents for
US EPA, state regulatory agencies, companies, and American Petroleum
Institute, including US EPA LNAPL and DNAPL Fact sheets.
Books:
Co-authored two groundwater books, Natural
Attenuation of Fuels and Chlorinated Solvents, published
by John Wiley & Sons; and Ground
Water Contamination: Transport and Remediation, published
by Prentice Hall.
