Jr. Systems Administrator +

GSI Environmental Inc is looking for a systems administrator with experience in database administration. The position requires experience with systems administration, helpdesk support and database administration. The candidate will be expected to maintain servers, provide tech support to individual users and support a relational database.

Qualifications

  • One to three years experience in systems administration. Experience in the environmental field is a plus!
  • Experience with Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory
  • Experience using databases such as Access or MS SQL Server
  • Experience troubleshooting networks in a client/server environment
  • Solid skills in troubleshooting computer hardware/software problems
  • Working knowledge of modern computer technology, with an understanding of foundational topics such as computer hardware, protocols, operating systems, applications, and drivers
  • Working knowledge of Mac OS X is a big plus.
  • Scripting experience with VBScript, Python, or Perl is highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as A+, MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) or MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) are a plus.

Additional Requirements

  • BS Degree in a relevant field (i.e., computer science, mathematics, statistics) is a strong preference.
  • Candidates must have the ability and desire to work without supervision.
  • The position requires the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize as necessary.
  • The ability and desire to learn new applications, operating systems and technologies is crucial for this position.
  • Candidates must be well organized; detail oriented, and highly motivated, with excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work effectively with colleagues and clients in a team environment is a must.

Entry Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist


This position will support a variety of environmental projects including environmental site investigations, remediation design, litigation support, and the preparation of environmental risk assessments. In addition, the successful candidate will be involved in data reduction/compilation/interpretation, and report preparation. Projects are located primarily in the Houston area, but periodic short-term out-of-town travel may be required.

Candidate Requirements:

Minimum educational requirement of a B.S. degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, or related disciplines. M.S. preferred. Must have knowledge of general environmental engineering or hydrogeological principles. Candidates must be well organized, detail oriented, and highly motivated, with excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work effectively with colleagues and clients in a team environment is a must.
