Marketing and Communications Coordinator

GSI has an immediate opening in its Houston, Texas office for an experienced Marketing and Communications Coordinator to address our operations nationwide, including our four offices in Texas and California.  This individual will work with GSI staff to increase the visibility of the company through marketing, social media and communication efforts.  This position also maintains and updates the organizations website, photo archives, digital assets and inventory of projects.  

Duties Include:

  • Coordinate all company marketing materials and initiatives
  • Edit and manage company website content and manage social media communications

Database Specialist
GSI’s Houston office is seeking a full-time Database Specialist.  Candidate will be responsible for working with our technical personnel to create, maintain, and analyze relational databases of environmental data. Secondary responsibilities will include using various analytical tools to create and update tables and graphics for use in technical reports and presentations.  The qualified candidate must have advanced skills in Microsoft Access and Excel.  
Summary
  • Create and maintain relational databases for environmental investigations using data from historical reports, laboratory test results, and third-party databases.
  • Develop queries to facilitate database construction, maintenance, and data analytics.
  • Interface with engineers on data needs for complex statistical and spatial analyses.
  • Execute data mining tasks using publicly available online data sources.
  • Produce graphs and tables according to style guidelines for technical reports and presentations.
  • Effectively communicate findings to internal and external customers

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel is required.  Unqualified candidates need not apply.

Chief Financial Officer

The position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report to the Company President and would be expected to be officer-level. Functional responsibilities will include: accounting, financial planning/analysis/budgeting, treasury, contract review/administration, 401(k) administration, and insurance/risk management.

Position Responsibilities

This position is a part of the senior management team and is intended to play a major role in the future growth and development of the Company. First year objectives for this position are summarized as follows

  • Update the system of financial controls, processes, procedures and metrics as necessary to enable more streamlined financial approval and monitoring processes.
  • Maintain primary relationship with Company’s banking representatives, accounting firm and corporate attorney.
  • Direct and manage the use of space, equipment and other GSI resources and capital within the context of the overall Company, regional offices and/or business unit budgets.
  • Direct, coordinate and manage the financial capital planning process at office and corporate levels.
  • Review and approve all facility and equipment leases.
  • Prepare required reports to external entities (e.g. banks) and taxing authorities. Meet reporting deadlines and assure accuracy of data.
  • Prepare quarterly financial reports and analysis as requested by the President and Board of Directors.
  • Prepare, annually update and monitor the Operating and Capital Budgets as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Formulate and implement policies to protect and utilize Company assets, including cash, cash collection, disbursements, property and investments.
  • Direct, manage, and streamline payroll, time and expense reporting processes and ensure compliance appropriate state and regulatory salary and wage requirements.
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as requested by the President or Board of Directors.

Position Requirement
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business with CPA and/or MBA credentials
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in financial management with the bulk of that experience within a professional service or consulting related environment
  • Prior experience within an employee owned company
  • Prior experience with accounting for federal, state and local government contracts
  • Proven success in managing the financial affairs of a multi-office, multi-state, growing professional service firm
